How Often to Schedule Chiropractic and Acupuncture Appointments?

Chiropractor and Acupuncturist Chapel Hill, NC
Chiropractic and acupuncture care work wonderfully together for many reasons. Patients utilizing this beneficial duo to make the most of their healthcare time find that scheduling care is easier when coming in for both treatments together. They also discovered that acupuncture care supports chiropractic results, and vice versa. While many people find that chiropractic adjustments benefit their spine, nervous system, and overall body posture mechanically, acupuncture treatment supports energy flow throughout the body on various levels, making it an ideal adjunctive therapy to full-body spine adjustments. Patients with a variety of conditions, ranging from back pain to headaches, shoulder and hip discomfort, to postural imbalances, may all benefit from chiropractic and acupuncture treatments.
Frequency of Chiropractic and Acupuncture Appointments
The frequency of care depends on several factors, including the severity and chronicity of pain and other symptoms, as well as the patient’s expectations and availability to receive care. Other factors include the patient’s willingness and ability to learn and apply new ideas between treatments. Additionally, some patients have financial limitations to receiving care as regularly as needed. Some patients prefer to spread out their care over a more extended period than one might expect to reduce feelings of soreness or other side effects that may occur with treatment. Alternatively, they may want to receive chiropractic care on one visit and acupuncture care on the next. Each patient is unique, and at Acupractic Natural Healing Center, the chiropractic and acupuncture offices of Dr. Lisa Oskardmay, we strive to help people recover on a schedule that best suits them.
For patients with chronic or severe pain and other symptoms, receiving care more frequently, especially in the beginning, can have a more lasting and beneficial impact. Patients may expect to come in two to even three times a week for several weeks in this instance, tapering off to once or twice a week for several weeks after that, then to once a week for several weeks, and so on until symptoms have improved and they are on maintenance care. Additionally, for patients who require or wish to recover more quickly, this increased frequency of care is necessary to achieve treatment goals. If a patient does not want to come in for care as frequently as prescribed, we explain that less frequent care may not improve their health outcomes, but rather maintain their current situation. Because some insurance plans do not cover maintenance care, patients need to consider this when making decisions. We offer affordable ‘self-pay’ options for patients whose insurance does not cover care.
At Acupractic Natural Healing Center, we work closely with patients to provide them with the best care possible promptly.
