What to Expect on Your First Visit to Our Office

First Visit to Our OfficeCongratulations on your choice of chiropractic and acupuncture healthcare at our office! We love helping people get well and stay well using natural chiropractic and acupuncture. To facilitate communication, please make sure we have your name, date of birth, phone number and e-mail address.

We will email you a welcome letter with an invitation to join the patient portal. You’ll be able to visit the confidential patient portal anytime to make changes to appointment scheduling, communicate with our office and review health information in your chart.  If you made your first appointment on our website  www.acudocnc.com, use that login information. Remember your login and password for future use.

Once on the patient portal, complete the health intake forms as accurately as possible and submit them to our office.  If you are unable for any reason to complete the intake forms before your appointment, plan to arrive 15” early on the day of your appointment to complete them in our office.

Our front desk assistant will ask for your insurance information before your visit to verify coverage and obtain benefit information related to the services you need.

Reserved parking for our office and handicapped parking is available in front of our building #800. Enter on the first level.  Our entrance is wheelchair accessible.

Once you’ve arrived, we’ll gather any more information needed and get your vital signs, then take you back to the examination room. Our tables are designed to be comfortable and accommodating- if you need anything, let us know. We have gowns and comfortable clothing for you to change into if that is helpful for your comfort. Restrooms are right across the hall.

Dr. Lisa Oskardmay will review your health history and other information with you and perform a physical examination related to your area of concern and overall health. As a chiropractor and acupuncturist, she will assess your motion, range of motion, posture, areas of numbness or altered sensation or muscle impairment, gait, balance and overall strength. She will take your pulses and look into your eyes, mouth and look at your tongue, palpate your back and neck, shoulders, arms, hip, legs, and feet. Let her know if you have pain or health concerns related to areas checked or other regions.

When you are comfortable lying on the table, she will apply a thumper to your back to massage the back. If you are interested in chiropractic, she may use an activator adjusting instrument to mobilize vertebrae gently and evaluate the vertebrae further. If you have expressed interest in acupuncture treatment, she may perform an abbreviated introductory acupuncture treatment.

At the end of the first visit, please ask any questions you have and take a few minutes to reflect and write down notes if needed. Our front desk assistant will schedule your report of findings and follow up appointment and collect your copay or other charges and give you office reference materials and a superbill. We will send you an email in a day or two with this reference information including a link to a site where you can leave a review of our office and Dr. Lisa Oskardmay if you wish. We appreciate your feedback and hope you have enjoyed your time at our office!
